There is one warm water pool located at our York Street facility that allow the aqua-therapists to treat patients in a safe low impact environment. This service is ideal for those patients that have advanced arthritic conditions or just need the help of decreased gravity in order to exercise early in their rehab.
Balance / Fall Risk Assessment
This assessment is to determine the patient’s ability to balance while performing everyday activities. This assessment utilizes Smart Balance Manager® technology and can help the therapist to evaluate the patient's major components of balance.
Biomechanical and Gait Evaluation
Human Performance Lab service that studies the patient as he or she walks, runs or stands to determine if there is a biomechanical connection to the symptoms they are experiencing.
This computerized and interactive piece of equipment can store data and show patient progress from one visit to the next.
Congenital Torticollis Therapy
Torticollis can occur in new infants and is characterized by a twisted neck in which the head is tipped to one side, while the chin is turned to the other. Children born with Torticollis can be successfully treated by a physical therapist who works closely with the child’s parents by offering both manual treatment and a comprehensive home program. Hanover Hospital’s Pediatric Specialty Therapy offers experienced physical therapists who have successfully treated infants and children suffering from Torticollis.
Developmental Testing & Therapy
Children who are not meeting developmental milestones may struggle with daily activities at home, school, or in the community. Hanover Hospital’s Pediatric Specialty Therapy offers comprehensive developmental testing by a licensed occupational, physical, or speech therapist who can identify and address specific problem areas through a comprehensive treatment plan.
Force Plate Evaluation
This is part of the Human Performance Lab’s Services. The force plate allows the therapists to assess strength, coordination, balance, and weightbearing comparisons of both the right and left legs. The force plate also acts as a part of the recovering athlete’s rehab. It does this by testing the various components necessary to enhance the effectiveness of the Impact® concussion management program.

Injuries & Pain Management
Also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, the McKenzie Method® is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education for back, neck and extremity problems. The key distinction is its initial assessment component—a safe and reliable means to accurately reach a diagnosis and only then make the appropriate treatment plan.
Post-CVA, TBI or other conditions of the central nervous system need specialized care. This is offered at most of our facilities. We also offer the added convenience of multidisciplinary care at our Cherry Tree, Thistle Hill and Littlestown locations.
Orthopedic Rehab is commonly done at all our clinics. It encompasses post-operative knee, hip, shoulder, back and ankle deficits as well as a host of musculoskeletal problems.
Orthotic Fabrication and Management
This service is done through our Human Performance Lab. It uses state of the art testing equipment and a full biomechanical evaluation to prescribe the exact foot orthotic needed to manage the patient’s symptoms. This information is then used to produce a custom fitted insert that is placed in the shoe. Custom ankle and knee braces are also prescribed here.
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction & Urinary Incontinence
This type of therapy is treatment for patients suffering from urinary or fecal incontinence. It is also treatment for patients with pelvic pain issues. Possible diagnoses for patients who may benefit from this treatment include interstitial cystitis, vulvodynia, vaginismus, and pain with penetration. We also offer care for prenatal and postpartum women dealing with musculoskeletal issues at our Littlestown and Cherry Tree Rehab locations. A comprehensive treatment program for individuals that have suffered a mild traumatic brain injury. This program may include balance training, vestibular rehab, vision therapy, cognitive training, and physical reconditioning to help individuals return to work and sports.
Sensory Integration Testing & Therapy
Sensory integration is how our bodies organize sensory information for use in daily functional skills. Children who demonstrate difficulties with movement and learning may have problems in processing sensory input. Hanover Hospital's Pediatric Specialty Therapy offers therapists who are trained and certified in testing and treatment of sensory integration problems that can impact a child's performance in functional activities at home, school or in the community.

Sports Medicine Rehab
Our Sports Medicine services are staffed by Certified Athletic Trainers that work with clients in the Medical Fitness center or under contract with some of our local school districts. The Sports Medicine team also provides a multitude of educational opportunities to other staff and the public alike.
This is the evaluation and treatment of dizziness and vertigo as well as the evaluation and treatment of gait and balance problems. At our Hillside Rehab Center's Human Performance Lab, this may also include testing and exercises utilizing the Smart Balance Manager® system.
Work Conditioning / Hardening
Transitional conditioning from acute rehabilitation up to the time of return to work for employees who have suffered serious injury. The rehab team’s primary focus with these programs is to expose the employee to the demands faced each day in their job to condition and prepare them for their future return to work.
Work Injury Management
- Early Rehabilitation: A comprehensive rehabilitation program including both physical and occupational therapy treating a wide range of conditions from the time of initial injury through return to work.
Work Tolerance Screens (Pre-Employment)
This service determines the physical demands tolerance of potential employees to specific job duties. Our rehab staff will create and implement a test specific to the physical demands of each job or group of jobs to objectively determine job eligibility and appropriate job placement. Potential risk of injury is reduced by matching the employee’s physical aptitude with job demands.
