Inpatient Visits

An inpatient visit or stay at the hospital is often a great time to consider quitting smoking! When you are ready, Hanover Hospital has a team of specially trained staff that can help you prepare to break free from the clutches of tobacco. During your stay you may be asked whether you would like to be visited by one of our Tobacco Treatment Specialists. If you decide that you would like more information about tobacco, you may also request a consultation while you’re visiting Hanover Hospital. In some cases, your doctor may also contact a Tobacco Treatment Specialist and ask him or her to stop by and visit you during your stay.

During a meeting with a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, you are in control of the conversation. You may ask any questions you have about tobacco use and the quitting process. If you are interested in doing so, the specialist can even help you formulate a plan to quit smoking! The specialist will discuss various treatment options and help you devise a custom quit plan. He or she may also recommend services and resources that will help you continue the process after you are discharged from the hospital.
