"Some Things Take Your Breath Away, Others Give It Back"
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary program that works to improve the quality of life for people with lung disease (COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, lung cancer, etc). Through an exercise program individualized to each patient’s needs and education on all aspects of lung disease, hopefully doctor’s visits, ED visits, and hospitalizations will be reduced.
Respiratory therapists work with individuals two to three times a week for 24 to 36 sessions. During this time, individuals and their family members have the opportunity to meet with a:
- Social Services staff member
- Tobacco cessation counselor (if needed)
- Physical and/or occupational therapist (if needed)
A referral to the program may be made by an individual’s pulmonologist or family physician. Insurance coverage will be verified by staff prior to beginning the program.
Hanover Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
