Social Services

The Social Services Department supports the Mission of Hanover Hospital to provide service excellence in healthcare to patients, co-workers, and the community. The Department has 2 divisions: Social Work and Chaplaincy Services. Social Services are provided through discharge planning, counseling, conferring with insurance companies on behalf of patients, ensuring cost effectiveness and appropriateness of hospitalization and providing for the spiritual needs of patients, their families and employees.

The Social Services Department is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. There is a staff member on call for evenings and weekends. For more information call (717) 316-2123.

Social Work

Social Workers have received a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work. They are part of the treatment team and provide discharge planning which often begins prior to admission. Discharge planning involves linking the patient to resources outside of the hospital that will help them meet their discharge needs. Services with which the Social Workers can assist you are:
