Our online feedback form is a place where patients and visitors can go to submit concerns, but it's also a great way for us to receive compliments about staff. The Patient Experience – The FOCUSED Award

At Hanover Hospital and Hanover HealthCare PLUS, we are committed to providing our patients with the best experience possible.  The Patient Experience was created to show our patients and their families and visitors that we care and that YOU are the reasons we come to work, create positive patient experiences, reduce patient anxiety, provide tools and training for employees that allow them to do their best and empower employees to be the best caregivers they can be and recognize them for outstanding work.

The FOCUSED Award is how we recognize our team. FOCUSED Award nominations can be submitted for any employee, physician or volunteer who demonstrates (any of) the standards of the Patient Experience: Friendly, Owner-minded, Communicative, United, Service-oriented, Empathetic and Devoted.  Each month, one winner will be selected by the multidisciplinary Patient Experience Council and that individual will be honored in a surprise ceremony.  The winner and runners-up and other nominees are also mentioned online and in our employee newsletter.

The DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is an international award, based here in the United States, that allows individual hospitals to honor "extraordinary nurses."  The award was created by the family of Patrick Barnes in honor of his memory.  Says Patrick's father, "We were there to see the clinical skill that dealt with his very complex medical situation, the fast thinking of nurses who saved his life more than once, and that nursing excellence that took years to hone to the best of the profession. But frankly, as a patient family, we rather expected that Pat would have great clinical care. That was why he was in the hospital. What we did not expect was the way his nurses delivered that care - the kindness and compassion they gave Pat and all of us in his family every day. We were awed by the way the nurses touched him and spoke with him, even when he was on a ventilator and totally sedated. The way they informed and educated us eased our minds. They truly helped us through the darkest hours of our lives, with soft voices of hope and strong loving hugs that to this day, we still feel."

The DAISY Award is presented about three times per year.  The winner is presented with the award on his/her unit and is featured online and in the employee newsletter. Winners and nominees receive a DAISY pin to add to the badge holders or uniforms.

The CARNATION Care Award

Nursing Support Team Members are the “front line” staff in our hospital and work closely with patients, family and other staff to provide safe care during their hospital stay. They build positive relationships with the patients and families which can be key to a successful recovery.

The Carnation Care Award is a quarterly award given to an outstanding Nursing Support Team Member that demonstrates consistent qualities above their expected performance at Hanover Hospital. The staff person must consistently demonstrate excellence through extraordinary service and compassionate care while being a role model for their peers.  The winner is presented with the award on his/her unit and is featured online and in the employee newsletter.
