For the woman who chooses to be proactive with her health and that of her family, Hanover Hospital offers many options for success. Hanover Hospital’s services are designed to meet a woman’s needs throughout her lifetime, providing continuity in maintaining, assessing and providing for optimal health and healthcare.
Family health and primary care - Family health and primary care represent the first level of the health care. It encompasses preventative care, health maintenance, identification and management of common conditions, and coordination of consultations and referrals. Finding the right doctor is the key to good health. And, Hanover Hospital’s DocFinder service makes it all so easy.
Medical Fitness Center - Medically supervised health-related exercise programs and healthy living education are provided at the Hanover Hospital Fitness Center. A client-based professional service, a physician’s referral is required to start a program at the Medical Fitness Center and some programs are covered by insurance.
Nutrition - Registered Dietitians provide individualized outpatient nutrition counseling for weight management, nutrition lifestyle change, diabetes counseling, etc. These in-depth appointments include a complete nutrition evaluation and education. A physician’s referral is needed and insurance companies may or may not cover this service.
Support Groups - Hanover Hospital offers free support groups covering a wide variety of topics relating to coping with personal and family health conditions, coping with life changes, and stress reduction.
Wellness Classes - Chair Aerobics, Therapeutic Yoga, “Wellness Walkers” are examples of several wellness classes of interest to women. For further information, dates and times check the Hanover Hospital website often.

Diabetes
The Diabetes Puzzle, "Putting It All Together
- A seven-part, 10-hour program designed to help individuals manage and monitor their diabetes. A different aspect of self-care will be featured at each session tailored to individual needs. This course is recommended for all newly diagnosed individuals. Classes are offered Tuesday evenings 6:30-8:30 p.m. or Thursday mornings 9:30-11:30 a.m. For a complete schedule of class dates and times, please call the Diabetes Education Department at (717) 633-2118 or

Nutrition & Fitness
Personalized Individual Nutrition Counseling - For individuals who wish to lose or maintain weight, or modify eating behavior for other health-related reasons. Counseling provided by registered dietitian. For cost and information, call (717) 633-2138, or 2263.
"Chair Aerobics" Fitness Class - This weekly class is tailored for those with pulmonary or cardiac restrictions. It can also be helpful to individuals in physical rehab stages, those with weight loss concerns, and women in late stage pregnancy. The class uses modified aerobic exercises to promote good cardiovascular fitness from a sitting or standing position. For additional information, call (717) 633-2159.

Seniors
"Wellness Walkers" - Senior Walking Club -
Make fitness fun and walk your way to better health! We are offering ongoing weekly outdoor walking tours of the Hanover area. If you are 50+ and looking for an easy, relaxing way to become more physically active and meet new people, this FREE walking club is for you. Pre-registration is required. Tobacco / Smoking Cessation
The Tobacco Cessation Department at Hanover Hospital offers a quarterly "Freedom from Smoking" group clinic. This 7-week class creates a friendly and safe environment where participants explore the world of tobacco use with an American Lung Association certified facilitator. "New Beginnings Nicotine Support Group" is also available on the first Monday of each month. It is a dynamic, ongoing gathering dedicated to the exploration, encouragement and support of a tobacco-free life.
If the group setting isn’t for you, Hanover Hospital also offers one-on-one sessions for youth and adults. Additional offerings include worksite employee cessation programs, free quit consultations, and resource materials available by mail.
