COALITION FOR LUNG HEALTH
The Hanover Area Coalition for Lung Health was formed in 1999 to increase awareness of COPD in the Hanover Community. Based on the National Lung Health Education Program. (www.nlhep.org), the Coalition has worked to improve public awareness through posters, billboards and community spirometry screenings. Spirometry is the simple breathing test used to detect early COPD. Greater physician awareness of the importance of early detection has been done through education conferences, newsletters and physician-to-physician communication.
