LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
LEAD Program
The 4-course LEAD program is a selective participation, leaders learning experience for directors, developed in cooperation with Penn State’s York Campus. Two courses are offered each year with the complete LEAD certificate from Penn State earned in two years.
It will include foundation skills and competencies upon which to build; specifically, personality awareness; historically significant management concepts; group process; decision-making; planning; strategic management; coaching; organizing/time management; management control tools; oral communication & interpersonal skills; listening; motivation concepts & tools; individual behavior description; performance measurement; performance appraisal; historically significant leadership styles. The direct involvement of HHCP executives as active participants as speakers and co-learners is a measure of the importance placed on this group learning experience by HHCP.
The commitment required by participants during this course:
- Attend all classes, participate in class activities, and pass tests on class concepts at the A or B level
- Read textbook assignments between classes
- Complete workplace research and assignments between classes, and present selected assignments in class
- Put new learning into use in your HHCP leadership role
Participation is by invitation only. HHCP-specific applications are a cornerstone of this effort. Participants should expect to see connections in their work as well as their personal lives.
