Hanover Hospital and Hanover YMCA Present Free Weight Management Classes
December 10, 2008 -
Hanover Hospital and the Hanover YMCA have teamed together to present the “Live Healthy Weight Management Series,” beginning
Wednesday, January 7, 2009, from
9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the Hanover Area Family YMCA, 500 N. George Street, Hanover. The course is free to members and non-members.
Malorie Blake, RD, LDN, a registered Dietitian at Hanover Hospital, and certified in adult weight management, will be the presenter for this new 5-week, 10-class series, which is designed to give adults the tools they need to be successful in losing and managing a healthy weight for life.
Participants will learn why it is important to maintain a healthy weight, and how others have been successful. Each class focuses on a timely topic, such as: making simple food choice changes, portion sizes, heart-healthy nutrition, and making healthy choices when dining out. Nutrition recommendations include helpful information about eating meals which are calorie-controlled, nutrient dense, fiber rich, and are low in fat.
Participants will receive personalized 25-day menu plans, with quick and healthy options. They can also choose to participate in weekly weight checks to help them stay on track. The course will also feature grocery shopping virtual tours and cooking demonstrations with recommendations for stocking the kitchen for healthier cooking success.
“This program offers the most reliable and current information for those who are committed to losing or maintaining a healthy weight, without having to go on the internet, or being misled by all the diet marketing which wastes money and is not effective,” said Blake.
Registration is required. To register, or for more information, please call: (717) 632-8211, and register for the “Live Healthy Weight Management Series.”
