Hanover Hospital Offers Lung Health Awareness Day – November 22nd

In recognition of Lung Health Month, Pulmonary Services Department of Hanover Hospital is proud to offer “Lung Health Awareness Day,” on Saturday, November 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Hanover Community Health & Education Center, 400 York Street.
Pulmonary rehab and respiratory care staff will be on hand with educational materials and free spirometry. Participants will have fun as they compete to win a gold medal at the “Breathless—Not Helpless” Olympics, featuring: Shot Put (bean bag toss), 100 Yard Dash (fast walk/stroll), Table Tennis, Discus Throw, “LUNGO” (our own version of BINGO – just 25¢). Light refreshments will be available. A $3.00 donation and 50¢ event fee will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the Pulmonary Special Needs Fund.
Lung Health Month is celebrated to focus on issues such as COPD, flu, pneumonia, tuberculosis and asthma, and to provide the latest lung health information concerning indoor air pollution and second-hand smoke. During Lung Health Month, respiratory therapists bring attention to free national spirometry screenings, along with information about the importance of early detection of lung disease, health tips for maintaining healthy breathing, and more.
