Hanover Hospital Announces New Director of Wound Care Services
Officials at Hanover Hospital announced that Sharon Brady, R.N., BSN, CWOCN, is the new Director of Wound Ostomy Services.
A graduate of Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Brady earned her BSN degree from UMBC in 1994 and became certified as a Wound Ostomy Nurse in 1998.. She currently serves as President of Baltimore Wound Continence Ostomy Nursing Affiliate.
Employed for the past nine years as a Wound Care Nurse Specialist at Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, Brady previously worked at Hanover Hospital for many years as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care, Gastroenterology Unit, and as an Administrative Nursing Supervisor.
Brady is proud to serve in this brand new position where she will collaborate with fellow Wound Ostomy nurse specialists Julie Smith and Michelle Maloney in the out-patient wound center. In her new position, she will be responsible for developing nursing processes and procedures; provide clinical education (serving as Chair of the Wound Committee), develop patient and caregiver education materials, facilitate performance improvement projects, and assure regulatory compliance.
Brady will also see patients by consultation to provide those who have “old” ostomies with the newest information and resources that they may not be aware of. She noted that it’s usually the “little things” like that that can improve a patient’s quality of life.
