Hanover Hospital Offers Lung Health Awareness Day - October 27th

In recognition of Lung Health Month, Hanover Hospital is proud to offer “Lung Health Awareness Day,” on Saturday, October 27th, from 2 – 6 p.m., at the Hanover Community Health & Education Center, 400 York Street.

The hospital’s pulmonary rehab and respiratory care staff will be on hand all afternoon, with educational materials, free spirometry and fun games such as Bocce Ball, Small Games of Chance, “LUNGO” (our own version of BINGO), and “Horse” Races.  Dinner will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by a special guest appearance by “Elvis” at 5 p.m.

Lung Health Month is celebrated to focus on issues such as COPD, flu, pneumonia, tuberculosis and asthma, and to provide the latest lung health information concerning indoor air pollution and second-hand smoke.  During Lung Health Month, respiratory therapists bring attention to free national spirometry screenings, along with information about the importance of early detection of lung disease, health tips for maintaining healthy breathing, and more.

Admission of $5 or a donation of baked goods, packaged for sale, will be accepted.  Proceeds will benefit the Pulmonary Special Needs Fund.

For more information about this event, or to make dinner reservations, contact Ann Newman at (717) 633-2159 or newmana@hanoverhospital.org by October 25th.  For information about Lung Health Month, visit:  www.lungusa.org, or www.aarc.org.
