Vascular Screenings Now Offered by Hanover Hospital

October 1, 2009 -
An estimated 20 to 30 million Americans are at risk for vascular diseases, including stroke, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), carotid artery disease and aortic aneurysms. In fact, vascular disease outside the heart causes almost as much death and disability as heart disease, and more than any cancer.

Research shows that vascular disease usually presents in those age 50 and older with a cardiovascular risk factor, or those aged 60 and older.

Because identifying disease early can allow for less invasive treatment options and better outcomes, Hanover Hospital will offer a new Vascular Screening Program.  Focused on cardiovascular risk factors and arterial disease including carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm and peripheral artery disease, the two-part program includes an educational session and vascular screenings with immediate physician consultation on personal results.

Those who wish to participate in the vascular screenings must attend the educational session on October 14, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., at the Hanover Hospital Wellness & Education Center, 400 York Street,  Hanover, PA.  The vascular screenings will be held October 21, 22, and 23, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Hillside Cardiovascular Services, Hillside Medical Center, Suite 207, 250 Fame Ave., Hanover.
