Hanover Hospital Announces New Physiatrist

Officials at Hanover Hospital are pleased to announce that Physiatrist Livia Kate Baublitz, D.O. has joined the Hanover Hospital Medical Staff.

Dr. Baublitz’s medical specialty is in physical medicine and rehabilitation, which focuses on returning patients to their former level of daily activity following injury or disease.  Physiatrists care for patients in all age groups and treat problems that touch upon all the major systems in the body.  She is trained to treat acute pain (pain lasting from 24 hours to seven days), and sub-acute pain (pain lasting from seven days up to three months), musculoskeletal pain, prescribe physical therapy, and employ non-operative methods for the treatment of a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders and conditions ranging from arthritis to those affecting the nerves. 

Dr. Baublitz specializes in nerve conduction and EMG studies, which diagnose nerve and muscle problems.  She can also administer injections for pain caused by carpal tunnel, pinched nerves arthritic joint pain and repetitive trauma injuries.  Additionally she specializes in spasticity management for patients with previous stroke or brain injury.

In addition to her outpatient practice Dr. Baublitz will provide medical coverage for Hanover Hospital’s Center for Acute Rehabilitative Medicine (CARM).  Her services in that capacity will be extended to patients with stroke, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and amputees.  Patients may also be referred for physical medicine services following cardiac surgery or cardiac catheterization procedures.                               

A native of York, Pennsylvania, Dr. Baublitz earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia, PA; and  served her rotating medical internship at Chester Crozer Medical Center, Chester, PA, and Delaware County Memorial Hospital, in Philadelphia.  She went on to complete her Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore/University of Maryland Medical Systems, in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Her professional memberships include:  American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; the Association of Academic Physiatrists; the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation (PASSOR); and the American Osteopathic Association.
