Dr. Michael Garcia is New Hospitalist at Hanover Hospital

Officials at Hanover Hospital are pleased to announce that Michael J. Garcia, M.D., has accepted a position as one of the newest Hospitalists. 

In his new role as Hospitalist, Dr. Garcia will provide specialized care of patients during their hospital stay.  He joins Hanover’s growing team of physicians who spend their entire workday at the hospital, where they can closely monitor their patient’s condition, test results, and response to treatment.   A Hospitalist is knowledgeable about hospital services, and works closely with the patient’s regular physician, specialists and hospital staff to coordinate medical services specific to the patient’s needs.

Hospitalists also care for patients who do not have a local physician or whose personal physician is one of the many doctors who choose to limit their practice to an outpatient office.  Patients who do not have a regular physician are admitted through the Emergency Room and found a regular physician at discharge for follow-up.

An Internal Medicine specialist, Dr. Garcia has been in private practice in Hanover since 1996.  Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he received his Medical Degree from Universidad Central Del Caribe, and served his Family Medicine internship at Ohio State University. His Internal Medicine residency was completed at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, PA. 

Though it is with deep regret that he is leaving his longtime practice, Dr. Garcia is looking forward to this new facet of his medical career.  In the meantime, Hanover Health Corporation, Inc. will provide physician coverage for his patients until a new permanent physician arrives later this fall.
