Dr. Benjamin Schwartz is New Orthopedic Surgeon in Hanover

Officials at Hanover Hospital are pleased to welcome Benjamin J. Schwartz, M.D., an Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Schwartz joins the Hanover Orthopaedic Associates practice, bringing special expertise in total joint replacement as well as general orthopedic care.

Originally from the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area, Dr. Schwartz received his undergraduate degree at College of William and Mary, Virginia, where he was a James Monroe Scholar.  He completed his medical education at the Medical College of Virginia where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Medical Honor Society.  He served his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston Medical Center, where he received the Lahey Clinic Resident Research Award for his work on hip fracture treatment in the elderly.  He completed Fellowship training in hip and knee replacement surgery at the Anderson Orthopaedic Institute in Alexandria, Virginia where he received additional specialized instruction from some of the pioneers of artificial joint surgery.

His special professional interests include treatment for patients of all ages, and especially for today’s younger patients who wish to maintain an active lifestyle.  Dr. Schwartz has special expertise in partial knee replacement.

A member of the Hanover Hospital Medical Staff, Dr. Schwartz is also a member of the Orthopaedic Research Education Foundation, the American Academy of Orthopaedic

Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.  He joins James Ellison, M.D., Robert Bischoff, M.D., Samuel D’Agata, M.D., and Francis Kilkelly, M.D. at Hanover Orthopaedic Associates, Inc., 207 Blooming Grove Road, Hanover, PA.
