Hanover Hospital Presents a Hanover Medical History Promenade
Hanover Hospital’s Heart and Vascular Institute and the Hanover Area Historical Society are pleased to present a walking review of Hanover’s medical history, on Saturday, September 20th, beginning at 1 p.m. (Rain date: September 27th.) The walk will begin and end at the Main Entrance of Hanover Hospital. The walking tour is FREE.
This first time event features an interactive walk which will offer insight into Hanover’s medical community dating back to 1800. Participants will “meet” Florence Nightingale; watch a medical steward perform surgery at Hanover’s civil war hospital site; “listen” to Clara Barton as she tells her story about Hanover’s Red Cross, and visit buildings of medical interest with a few surprises along the way. Knowledgeable staff from the Hanover Area Historical Society will guide the 2-mile walk.
An optional tour of the Warehime-Myers Mansion will be available for a $6 fee. Water stations will be provided. A FREE pedometer will be given to the first fifty people who register. Following the walk, light refreshments and door prizes will be offered at Nadine’s Café, located at Hanover Hospital.
Registration is required. To register, please call (717) 633-2158.
