5K Run/Walk for Muscular Dystrophy to Kick Off Open House at Hillside Medical Center
September 1, 2010 -
Hillside Medical Center announces the 8th Annual Heritage/ERA Preferred Properties Run/Walk for Muscular Dystrophy, a 5K event which will take place rain or shine, at 9 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Hillside Medical Center, 250 Fame Avenue, Hanover. An Open House event will follow the Run/Walk, to showcase the numerous medical services currently available at the newly expanded Hillside facility.
Registration for the 5K begins at 8 a.m., with the run and walk following at 9 a.m. The fee to walk or run is $20, which includes a t-shirt if registered before August 20. After August 20, the fee is $25, with t-shirts available while supplies last.
Corporate as well as individual awards will be presented. Trophies will be awarded to the first three overall male and female finishers, as well as medals to the first three finishers in each age group. The awards will be presented by eight-year-old Anastasia Corp, of Hanover, this year’s MDA Goodwill Ambassador.
Certified Athletic Trainers from Hanover Rehab Centers will be available to provide medical assistance if needed. Refreshments will be available following the race.
Runners and walkers will not only be improving their own health, but also contributing to an important charitable cause -- the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Originally established in September, 2003, the 5K has raised $33,224.12 to benefit Muscular Dystrophy through the previous seven events.
