Hanover Hospital Wellness Connection to Present "Overcoming the Back-to-School Blues"
Back-to-school can be an exciting but challenging time of the year for the entire family. Juggling homework, after-school activities and trying to make time for oneself and the entire family can be stressful.
The Hanover Hospital Wellness Connection will present “Overcoming the Back-to-School Blues” on Saturday, September 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Hanover Community Health & Education Center, 400 York Street, in Hanover. This free, interactive program is designed to help families learn how to manage stress and how to plan a healthy and happy school year. A healthy boxed lunch will be provided at no cost.
The program will be divided into three sessions: Stress Management, Packing Healthy Lunches and Financial Planning. Yoga instructor Ila Vidyarthi will talk about stress and how it impacts the mind and body, and explain why it is important to learn how to manage it. She will also discuss how yoga is used to manage stress, and will demonstrate relaxing yoga exercises and breathing techniques.
Denise Stamm, a Hanover Hospital Registered Dietitian will provide ideas for packing healthy school lunches based on children’s nutritional needs, and tips on how to keep food safe. Tasty new lunch recipes which are quick and easy to make will also be available. Representatives from BELCO Community Credit Union will discuss savings options for college to include an overview of 529 Plans and IRAs. They will also provide financial education for all ages, such as: savings tips, budget tools, and more.
Parents and their children are invited to participate, and activities will be provided for kids of all ages. Pre-registration is required by September 18th. Please register by calling the Wellness Connection at (717) 633-8873.
