Hanover Hospital Medical Laboratory Provides Outreach Services to Area Nursing Homes
Hanover Hospital recently contracted with Brethren Home Cross Keys Village to provide medical laboratory services to their residential, assisted living and healthcare residents.
Clinical technicians from the hospital’s medical laboratory staff now provide on-site physician-ordered blood and specimen collection services Monday through Friday, and home-call services three times a week for the benefit of residential homebound patients at the Village. The actual testing is then performed at the hospital laboratory.
According to Michelle Lee, Administrative Director of Hanover Hospital’s Laboratory, similar services have been provided to patients at Hanover Hall and Homewood Plum Creek. Lee added that effective this past April, the hospital is also contracted with the new Lutheran Home at Utz Terrace to provide blood collection services. Though the technicians currently provide service on an “as needed” basis, this will increase to two or three mornings a week once the new facility grows to include all levels of patient care.
Hanover Hospital also provides convenient weekday medical laboratory services at its satellite facilities located at Hillside, New Oxford, and Spring Grove; with weekday and Saturday hours available at South Hanover, Littlestown, and Eichelberger.
