Hospitality Shop Volunteers Needed at Hanover Hospital
The Hanover Hospital Auxiliary is proud to provide the Hospitality Shop, offering a wide range of quality merchandise, reasonably priced, for the shopping convenience of hospital visitors, patients and staff.
It takes the services of a lot of people to assure the shop is open for business during the busiest hours each week. Unfortunately, many volunteers who have worked in the shop for many years are now retiring. According to Lynda Butt, of the Auxiliary Board, the Auxiliary is now turning to the community for help in filling openings in the Shop in the evening, on weekends and over the lunch hour.
“Our Shop volunteers receive extensive training, and enjoy the opportunity to meet new and interesting people,” said Butt. “As hospital volunteers, they are also recognized during an annual appreciation luncheon, and they receive free TB testing and flu shots.”
The Hospitality Shop, which opened in 1954, has become the Auxiliary’s largest source of revenue. Profits from the Shop directly support hospital programs and continuing education for hospital employees. Butt noted that so many compliments are received on the shop and the merchandise available there. A wide range of plush animals, jewelry, cards and home decor items are sold. There are many unique items and everything is reasonably priced.
With the assistance of staff and volunteers, the Hospitality Shop is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m.; Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sundays from
1 –6 p.m.
Individuals are being sought who may have recently retired from active employment and have extra time to share, or are new to the area and looking for opportunities to serve Hanover Hospital and the community.
