RN to BS and BSB Degree Programs to be Offered in Hanover by Penn State Mont Alto, Penn State York, and Hanover Hospital

Through a new collaborative effort with Penn State Mont Alto and Penn State York, Hanover Hospital is proud to offer an RN to BS program for Registered Nurses, a bachelor of science degree in business (BSB) and credit certificates in business, beginning in the fall of 2008.  Classes will be held at the Hanover Community Health & Education Center, 400 York Street, in Hanover.

The RN to BS program, offered by Penn State Mont Alto, helps prepare nurses to meet the many changes in the health care field by expanding and enhancing their nursing education.  The program is open to nurses who have previously earned either an associate degree or a diploma in nursing.  In addition to upgrading skills, the program prepares students for non-traditional areas of nursing.

The BSB degree offered by Penn State York is an upper-division, professionally oriented business degree for individuals who are seeking general preparation in business.  It combines the core business disciplines of management, marketing, finance and logistics, with applied study in a practical setting, especially in the small-business settings here in Pennsylvania.  Students also develop written and oral communication skills, acquire contemporary computer skills, and engage in active and collaborative learning.

Additionally, credit certificates can be used to step-up to a degree, and they provide a way to sample a selected subject area before making the commitment to a degree program.  Others can be used as refresher courses to hone existing skills or develop new ones that can enhance one’s career and increase one’s value to their employer.

According to Jeff Warner, director of continuing education at Penn State York, “Penn State York is actively working with Hanover Hospital to provide quality programs and services for the continuous educational growth and development of individuals at convenient times and locations in the community. This collaborative and proactive partnership offers an array of results oriented educational solutions to meet the varying needs of learners as they endeavor to achieve their personal goals.”
