Therapeutic Yoga Classes Now Forming at Wellness Center

The Hanover Hospital Wellness Connection is pleased to announce that Musculoskeletal/Restorative Therapeutic Yoga classes are now forming.  Classes are scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9-10:30 a.m. or 7:30 – 9 p.m., at the Hanover Community Health & Education Center.

Led by Ila Vidyarthi, Certified Therapeutic Yoga Teacher, participants will learn to decrease stress, build strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and endurance while improving blood circulation.

Dating back over 5,000 years, yoga is seen as the oldest defined practice of self-discovery.

Among the many popular techniques derived from yoga which can reduce stress are:   physical movement/stretching/poses, relaxation, slow and rhythmic breathing, chanting, centering, meditation, and mental imagery.  Reduced stress, reduced cortisol (“stress hormone”) levels, sound sleep, reduction of medical symptoms, allergy and asthma relief, and lower blood pressure are just a few of the many research-based positive effects of yoga on the body-mind complex.

Cost for the course is $60.
