"The Electrical Heart & Wiring Devices" is Topic of FREE Presentation
March 3, 2010 -
Did you know there is an electrical system that keeps your heart beating and pumping blood? Sometimes these electrical signals can make the heart beat too fast or too slow, causing an irregular heart rhythm. Implantable devices that regulate the rhythm and heart rate are becoming more widespread with proven effectiveness.
Heartbeats and rhythms will be the focus of Hanover Hospital’s next “Speaking Heart to Heart” program that will take place at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Hanover Hospital Wellness & Education Center, 400 York Street, Hanover. The program is FREE.
Kevin Lanahan, of St. Jude Medical, will be the guest speaker. Lanahan is a biomedical technician for pacemakers and automatic cardioverter defibrillators (AICD), which regulate heart rate and rhythm. He will discuss the rhythms of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, the indications for, and management of these implantable devices.
Pre-registration is requested. To register, or for more information, please contact Ann Small at (717) 633-8856, or smalla@hanoverhospital.org.
