Hanover Hospital Ranks #25 in National Level "Training Top 125" for Employee Development

Hanover Hospital/Hanover HealthCare PLUS was ranked at 25th place in the prestigious “Training Top 125” report by Training magazine.

Now in its seventh year, the Training Top 125 is the only report that ranks companies unsurpassed in harnessing human capital.  The rankings were announced earlier this month at the Top 125 awards gala, sponsored by the American Management Association, GeoLearning, and Vantage Partners, held during the Training 2008 Conference and Expo in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hanover Hospital was among 37 newcomers to the list, including five who placed in the Top 50.   The Top 125 includes ranking based on benchmarking statistics such as total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, and measurement; work place surveys, hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs.  Ranking is determined by assessing a range of qualitative and quantitative factors, including financial investment in employee development, the scope of development programs, and how closely such development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.

A not-for-profit community hospital, Hanover far surpassed other hospitals and many large for-profit organizations and corporations such as McDonald’s, Home Depot, Marriott International, and Nationwide Insurance.  According to Dr. Gerry Post, Director of Education Services at Hanover Hospital, “Our education goals are strategically aligned with the hospital’s goals, objectives, pillars, and business strategies.  We ranked high because our competencies are aligned with our strategic pillars, which are based on the  needs of the medical units, patients, and staff.  This recognition reinforces where the organization is going.”

Training magazine conducts extensive research through a multi-tiered nomination, application and interview process.  Companies that wish to be ranked answer a detailed questionnaire.  The magazine’s editorial staff evaluates the information provided and conducts follow-up interviews, where appropriate, on the many qualitative questions.

“All of these Top 125 companies invested tremendous time, dedication, commitment, and resources in learning and development excellence – and had the business results to show for it,” said Joyceann Cooney-Garippa, Training’s Group Publisher & Show Director.  “Congratulations to all the companies named to the 2008 Training Top 125…which are undoubtedly the crème de la crème in workforce training and development.”

William Heiser, Chairman of the Hanover Hospital Board of Directors, congratulated the staff for this national-level recognition.  “This award for training is just one more indication of the level of commitment the Hospital leadership and its employees have to delivering the finest of care.  We are extremely proud to receive this recognition.  Performance does count and outstanding efforts in areas such as training enable us to continue to deliver the high level of quality care the Hanover area deserves.”
