"Cooking For A Healthy Heart" to be Presented February 21st
Improving diet and lifestyle is a critical component of the American Heart Association's strategy to prevent cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in Americans. In June of 2006 the American Heart Association released the new recommendations for a healthy heart diet.
The Hanover Hospital Wellness Connection will present "Cooking For a Healthy Heart,"
on Wednesday, February 21st from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Hanover Community
Health & Education Center, located at 400 York Street, Hanover.
Guest speaker Nadine Wolf, M.S., R.D., Director of Food & Nutrition Services at
Hanover Hospital will present a practical guide to the new 2006 American Heart
Association Guidelines. Participants will learn to put the latest diet and lifestyle
recommendations for a healthy heart into action.
The free program includes a cooking demonstration on preparation and tasting of heart-
healthy foods. According to Wolf, the program will be helpful to those who want to
adopt a heart healthy lifestyle, but don't know where to begin. "How exactly do we go
about changing our "wicked" ways with eating? This program will help you get started
by giving your kitchen and recipes a heart healthy makeover."
