Hanover Hospital Medic 46 Presents:  The EMS Response to the London Bombings

Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel in London, England, responded to a major terror event on July 7th, 2005, involving multiple bombs. More than 50 people died and over 700 were injured when terrorists detonated bombs in several underground trains and a double-decker bus during the morning rush hour.

Hanover Hospital Medic 46, with support from Lancaster EMS and the Emergency Health Services Federation, is proud to offer an informational presentation on the EMS response to those bombings, featuring special guest speakers Jonathon Edmondson and Liam Whittaker, from London Ambulance. The presentation will take place on Friday, January 27th, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., at the Hanover Community Health & Education Center, 400 York Street, Hanover.

Fire, police and EMS personnel and the general public are invited to attend.

According to Steve Lyle, Executive Director of the Emergency Health Services Federation, "It is our intention to learn from the successes and failures of others who have endured worse case scenarios while providing emergency care to those in need. We are offering a very unique opportunity to interact with providers who were in the midst of the chaotic scene of a terrorist event. This perspective from their peers will provide them with tips on what to do…and what not to do in a way in which EMS providers can relate."

He further emphasized that these individuals are not professional speakers. "These are providers who found themselves in the worst environment doing the best they could do…not unlike what our providers would do under similar circumstances."

The program is free, but due to limited seating availability, pre-registration is required. Please RSVP to William Fissel, at Hanover Hospital by calling 717-633-8979 or email:
