New Medical Staff President Elected New Medical Staff President Elected
Steven R. Sheppard, D.O., obstetrician/gynecologist was recently elected as the new Medical Staff President at Hanover Hospital. He follows John Lunsford, M.D. who had served as Medical Staff President since March, 2003.
Dr. Sheppard joined the Medical Staff in 1991 and has served in a variety of Medical Staff leadership roles, including Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Medical Staff Vice President since 2003.
As Medical Staff President, Dr. Sheppard will lead monthly meetings of the Medical Executive Committee, the body charged with making recommendations to the Board regarding Medical Staff structure and credentialing issues; receiving and acting upon reports from various Medical Staff Departments and Committees concerning delegated administrative responsibilities; accounting to the Board and Medical Staff for the overall quality of care rendered to patients in the Hospital, as well as advising
Hospital administration on issues
affecting patient care.
I feel privileged to have been chosen by my
colleagues to represent them, commented Dr.
Sheppard. I look forward to continuing to enhance
relationships between the Medical Staff, hospital
staff, administration and the Board. With all of the
positive changes that are occurring at Hanover
Hospital, we have a unique opportunity to work
cooperatively to provide our service area with
quality, patient-centered healthcare, added

Joining Dr. Sheppard as Medical Staff
officers are Michael R. Denne, D.O. as
Vice President and Michael H. Ader,
M.D., as Secretary-Treasurer. Dr. Denney
will also continue in his role as Chair of
the Department of Emergency Medicine.
