Successful summer exercising starts with a minimal amount of preparation:
- Drink water, even when exercising in a pool
- Wear sunscreen
- Wear sunglasses
- Wear a hat
- Cover your body as much as possible
- Wear light color and loose fitting clothing
- Avoid exercising in the middle of the day
- Remember to always cool down after exercising
- Rest and recover
- Use common sense
Ways to Get a Better Night's Sleep
- Exercise regularly in the late afternoon
- Establish a sleep schedule
- Reduce the stress level in your life
- Lower the temperature in your bedroom
- Restrict your intake of liquids before bedtime
- Avoid snacking on heavy, spicy, or high-fat foods before bedtime
- Reduce your intake of caffeine
- Avoid alcohol near bedtime
- Don't catnap during the day
- Be wary of using sleeping pills
- Maintain a healthy diet
- Drink plenty of water
- Take the correct supplement if your diet does not provide the recommended daily allowances
- Limit your sugar intake - high amounts of sugar have been linked to the lowering of white blood cells
- Limit dairy intake - dairy foods may give bacteria the environment needed to grow
- Get plenty of sleep - seven to nine hours a night are recommended to maintain homeostasis
- Manage stress
- Wash hands frequently
