May 2017 "On-Hold" Messages

Posted Date: 5/1/2017

Stroke doesn’t have to lead to disability or death. The key is to recognize a stroke and get to the hospital as soon as possible. May is National Stroke Month – the perfect time to learn how to recognize the signs of stroke and what to do, using the acronym F.A.S.T. F=Face—Can the person smile? A=Arm Weakness—Can the person lift both arms or does one drift downward? S=Speech Difficulty—ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred or unrecognizable? T=Time—Call 911 immediately if you observe any of these symptoms.

Hanover Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification. This achievement reflects the organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. Certified primary stroke centers use a standardized method of delivering care, use standardized performance measure data to continually improve treatment plans, and tailor treatment and intervention to individual needs.

Hanover Hospital has a long-standing tradition of providing excellent, quality patient care. This is only possible through the dedication, integrity and compassion of each member of our hospital family, no matter what their role. During the month of May, we want to express a special thank you to our staff and say how much we appreciate all they do for the hospital and the community.

As part of its new Mammography Center, Hanover Hospital is pleased to offer 3-D Mammography, the most advanced digital technology for diagnosing breast cancer at its earliest stages. This advanced method produces a clearer 3-dimensional image by using several X-rays obtained at different angles, offering increased cancer detection and decreased callback rates.
