Posted Date: 7/24/2017

The board of directors of Hanover HealthCare PLUS, the parent organization of Hanover Hospital, and PinnacleHealth System have signed a binding affiliation agreement. The binding agreement is the next step in finalizing the process for Hanover Hospital to become a member of the PinnacleHealth network. The transaction is subject to regulatory review with an anticipated completion in September 2017.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hanover Healthcare PLUS, including Hanover Hospital, its physician network, and other facilities, will become part of PinnacleHealth. PinnacleHealth has committed to dramatically increasing the ability of Hanover facilities to modernize, attract more patients, and expand services to the community.

As part of the agreement, Hanover HealthCare PLUS employees and providers, who are in good standing at the time the transaction closes, will become PinnacleHealth employees. A local charitable foundation will also be established.

When the affiliation is complete, PinnacleHealth will include eight hospitals, along with a network of physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, and outpatient centers, among other health facilities. With the addition of Hanover Healthcare PLUS, PinnacleHealth will employ a staff of more than 9,400 individuals, and more than 1,640 physicians will serve on the medical staffs.

“We are very excited to have finalized the terms of our agreement with PinnacleHealth and look forward to joining the growing network. Hanover Hospital will continue its dedication to the community by continuing its charitable mission and local board leadership,” states Michael Gaskins, president and CEO of Hanover Hospital. “I’m especially grateful to our employees for their ongoing dedication and the exceptional care they provide, as well as their unwavering commitment to the community as we move forward with the transition.”

“PinnacleHealth demonstrates its commitment to the region by growing healthcare services and advancing quality care to meet the evolving healthcare needs of communities in central Pennsylvania. Working with an exceptional organization like Hanover Hospital will allow us to expand services and increase access across Adams and York counties,” states Philip Guarneschelli, president and CEO, PinnacleHealth.
PinnacleHealth will serve as the healthcare hub for central Pennsylvania, a 10-county area including Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, York, Lancaster, Lebanon, Juniata, Franklin, Adams and parts of Snyder counties.
