COMING SOON: Robotic Surgery!

Posted Date: 1/3/2018

UPMC Pinnacle Hanover will soon be offering the da Vinci® robotic-assisted system as a minimally invasive surgical option. Our physicians and staff are now in training to be able to offer this option to our community. This minimally invasive option allows trained surgeons to perform a wide range of complex operations through a few small incisions. Utilizing an advanced robotics computer, this system allows the surgeon to remain 100% in control at all times. Each movement of the surgeon’s hand is translated into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body.

In addition, the robot’s 3D-High Definition vision system provides surgeons a highly magnified view, virtually extending their eyes into the patient. These advanced optics allow the surgeon to locate and repair damaged tissue that could otherwise go unseen by the naked eye, providing a detailed assessment of vessels, blood flow and related tissue.

Together, these technologies provide precision and control for the performance of minimally invasive surgery. As a result, patients can look forward to a shorter hospital stay, fewer complications, faster recovery, smaller incisions and minimal scarring.
