Cherry Tree Cancer Center was opened in 1998 as a joint effort of Hanover Hospital and WellSpan in order to provide patients with cancer treatment close to home. Board-certified radiation oncologists, along with oncology-trained nurses and support staff, provide state-of-the art cancer therapy in friendly and comfortable surroundings.

Services
3-D and IMRT (Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy)
Treatment Planning & Delivery
These high-tech, three-dimensional conformal treatments used at Cherry Tree Cancer Center give us the ability to more precisely treat the cancerous areas while sparing the surrounding areas of normal tissue. This state-of-the-art technology allows our staff to increase the dosage of radiation to maximize the benefit of treatment and improve the cure rate while reducing side effects.

IGRT (Image-Guided Radiation Therapy)
Diagnostic x-rays or CT scans are performed immediately before treatment so that radiation fields are more precise. Because this procedure is completed at every appointment, we are able to localize the radiation every day and will know immediately if we need to make any adjustments in your treatment. This method of "tumor targeting" allows us to use higher doses of radiation on the areas that need it while sparing normal tissue and reducing side effects.
Financial Counseling
A financial counselor is available to assist patients with any financial concerns including questions about insurance.
Cancer Patient Help Fund
In conjunction with Hanover Hospital and Wellspan, we can offer Cancer Patient Help Funds for cancer patients with financial needs. Although funds do not cover treatment, they are used towards food, rent, utilities and other essentials during the time that the patient is receiving treatment. We also have access to food banks in Hanover and York.
Nutrition Counseling
Maintaining a healthy diet is an important factor in the effectiveness of therapy. A registered dietitian is available for patients with special dietary needs or concerns. Services include a complete nutritional assessment, the development of strategies for maintaining sound nutritional health, and the evaluation of alternative nutrition therapies.
Research Trials
National and industry-based research trials are available for select cases. These trials improve the quality of care because patients are able to take advantage of new protocols written by research experts. They ensure that patients are receiving cutting-edge therapies and care.
Van Transportation
Transportation is available for patients who need a ride to and/or from their appointments at Cherry Tree Cancer Center. Please be advised that the van is not handicap accessible, and you must be able to get in and out of the van on your own.
Community Partners
In order to give patients a wider pool of resources, we work closely with other area organizations including the American Cancer Society, Adams County Office for Aging, York County Area Agency on Aging, VNA Home Health, area food banks and hospice and home care agencies.
