Physiatry, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is a medical subspecialty focusing on functional restoration in individuals who are affected by physical disability incurred by injury or disease. Optimal function is achieved through physical therapy and modalities, (e.g., heat, ultrasound, cryotherapy), and medications.
